German teacher and participant in the Let’s STREAM project.

We are all aware that education is the most important segment of any society and that without education, society cannot survive.

The STREAM project was a multidisciplinary challenge that connected elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics to create an innovative solution for developing modern teaching methods and reorganizing existing traditional teaching models. The project participants involved subject and class teachers, who worked individually and in teams to develop competencies for the application of STREAM in everyday teaching and to become familiar with each segment of this complex method in education.

The aim of this project was to explore the possibility of applying the STREAM method in different domains of science and art and how it could be integrated into 21st-century education. This way, teachers would become familiar with a modern approach in theory and practice of education.

During the online phase of the project, Google Classroom served as the primary communication platform. Professors published various presentations and video content, and in the form of assignments, we processed the modular units of the STREAM project.

During this training, I learned what STREAM is theoretically and practically. This educational approach integrates different disciplines, enabling students to develop problem-solving skills through practical, creative, and research-based activities. STREAM focuses on creating a comprehensive education approach, where students are encouraged to use knowledge from different fields to solve real-world challenges and develop innovative ideas.

Through training within the STREAM method, we had the opportunity to explore and master several key modules, which included Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. STREAM training allowed us to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in creating and implementing solutions, as well as our previous experiences as teachers, and instructed us how we could implement this approach in our classes. This project is remarkably well structured and provides an adequate overview of the various areas covered by STREAM. The project is suitable for students with and without experience, but it is necessary for all teachers who work or want to be involved in the teaching process in any way. We are all aware that education is the most important segment of any society and that without education, society cannot survive. In our country, the state of education is unfortunately at an unsatisfactory level, far from where it should be, but expert meetings and lectures like these bring hope for a brighter future for the education system in Serbia.
